
KEVIN AMMERMAN
ELDER
Kevin was born in Lakeland FL and then moved to Winter Park, FL at the age of 2. Graduated High School in 1976 and relocated to Atlanta GA and shortly thereafter moved to Austell Ga. He earned his Associates degree at Kennesaw Junior College and went on to the AIECA Electrical program for 6 years. He worked commercial electrical until 1992 when he joined the GA Tech electrical department maintaining campus electrical. Was raised in the Episcopal church and then the Methodist church and served as an usher, trustee and youth SSC teacher and now serving Christ at Smyrna Presbyterian Church. Kevin has been married to his beautiful wife, Lisa, for 36 years and they have two grown children 30- & 27-years young. Kevin is now retired and enjoys helping others whenever needed, he enjoys meeting people and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with anyone who will listen or NOT.

ALAN ANDERSEN
DEACON
Alan was born and raised in the small town of Ranburne, Alabama. He moved to Atlanta in 2007 to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he studied Materials Science and Engineering. During college, he met his beautiful wife, Mallory, who was attending the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). They married in 2013 and moved to Smyrna in 2016, where they welcomed their first child, Lucas. Since then, God has blessed them with three more children: Jackie, James, and Nolan.
In early 2023, Alan felt called to leave his corporate job to start his own business, Affinity Advisors, based in Cobb County. His company provides a marketplace for the buying and selling of specialty insurance.
Alan values his time with his family, enjoys staying active, and is a dedicated member of our church community. He also enjoys a good cigar every now and then and appreciates the fellowship of hosting friends on his back porch.

DAVID CHURCHILL
DEACON
David was born in Chicago and at the age of 5 his family moved to Benton Harbor, a small town in Southwest Michigan where he grew up. Shortly after moving to Michigan, his family was invited by a neighbor to a local Lutheran church marking the beginning of the Holy Spirit's work in his life through the hearing of Word in church and through the blessing of a Christian education through high school. After graduating from high school in 1982 he enlisted in the United States Navy and spent the next 20 years serving in the U.S. Submarine force, retiring from the Navy in 2003 and now works as a software developer. In 2023 the Lord led David and his wife Kim to Smyrna Presbyterian Church where they have been awestruck in seeing the fruits of the Holy Spirit in the hearts, hands and minds of His church. David and Kim have been married since 1998, they have 7 grown children and have been blessed with 9 grandchildren. David's hobbies include running and flying radio controlled model airplanes, but his supreme joy is worshipping God and growing in knowledge of Him and His Word as well as enjoying the fellowship of his brothers and sisters in Christ.

DOUG LOWE
DEACON
Doug grew up in Rochester, NY, and went to college at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, where he graduated with a BS in Accounting in 1980. This is his third time living in Atlanta, with other stops in New York City and Des Moines along the way. During his career he had several jobs, he was Business Manager of the production company that created “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” and “Star Search”, and he retired a few years ago from Meredith Corporation’s broadcast group where he helped oversee running 40 television stations in 17 markets. He has two daughters, Elizabeth (34) who you may see with him some Sundays, and Catherine (37) who lives in Des Moines. Doug became a Christian when he was 30, and started attending Smyrna Pres three years ago. He spends his time working on the non-profit he started with a friend, that focuses on the needs of children (www.liferoadsinc.org), studying God’s word, teaching the 3-5 years olds at church, volunteering at golf tournaments, riding his bike, running, hiking, and traveling and enjoying the beauty of God’s world.

MAX OEHLSCHLAEGEL
DEACON
Max was born in Hamburg, Germany. After studying law at the University of Hamburg and getting his PhD from the Friedrich-Schiller University of Jena, he practiced as an attorney for over 5 years in Germany. Thereafter, he and his family moved to the US where he received an LLM from the University of Georgia, and started working for an American law firm.
Max married his wife Frances in 2017, and they have been blessed with two great sons, Henry and Friedrich (Fritz). Max was raised as a Lutheran, and joined Smyrna Presbyterian Church with his family shortly after their move to Smyrna in 2020. Max’s hobbies include hunting, golf, and skiing.

RADNEY SIMPSON
DEACON
Radney was born in Mobile, Alabama, and raised in Perry, GA. A high school classmate invited Radney to attend the United Methodist Church Youth group activities, where Christ’s grace was shared. After graduating high school, Radney began his college education at Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA. There, God’s providence placed his future wife, Catherine, into his life for a brief one time car ride to her part time job at TG&Y. In 1987, Radney began his career with the Georgia Department of Transportation in Atlanta. God’s providence again provided an opportunity for Radney & Catherine to share another ride together on the Marta rail in downtown Atlanta. After 4 years of dating, Radney & Catherine married in 1991, and are now blessed with two daughters, Leila and Dawn. During May 2020, Radney & Catherine began worshiping at SPC and subsequently joined in December of the same year. Radney joined Catherine in retirement in January 2023. Radney enjoys traveling near and far with Catherine. He also enjoys worshiping and having fellowship with his church family whenever the doors are open at SPC. Radney is fulfilling his three year term as current Deacon, and is remaining on for another term pending congregational approval.

JAMES WESLEY
DEACON
James was born and raised in Mabelton, GA. He studied business at Auburn University. James and his wife Caroline married in 2011 and together they have 3 children. James is fulfilling his three year term as current Deacon, and is remaining on for another term pending congregational approval.
